In professional diving, the diver speaks inside a helmet, with the continuous noise of gas flow, and on analog systems the voice reaches the surface muffled and with echo. Every repeated instruction consumes bottom time, and clarity of communication is a safety item of the operation.
BMPTECH's Digital Voice System handles audio in the digital domain. The microphone is digital and the codec is OPUS at 32K, which preserves speech intelligibility on little bandwidth. Onboard processing performs echo cancellation, automatic gain control, background noise removal and human voice detection with dynamic control, so the constant helmet noise is attenuated and speech is transmitted with priority.
The class D amplifier is integrated and compatible with helmet speakers, which removes the need for a separate amplifier box. Communication is Ethernet, over the same network as the rest of the system, and built-in diagnostics inform the operator of a dropped audio node as soon as it happens.
The line covers four positions in the operation: diver helmet, surface operating desk, hyperbaric chamber and portable Wi-Fi unit.
